JOB TITLE Lead Accountant
DEPARTMENT: Accounting
REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager
MAJOR PURPOSE:
The Lead Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, managing a team of accounting professionals, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.This role is designed to grow into a Management role within 12 months.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mentor a team of accounting staff, including performance reviews, training, and development.
- Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities before they’re asked for, connect the numbers to the business.
- Lead key accounting operations, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant regulations.
- Manage the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within the accounting department.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support business decisions.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Stay up-to-date on current accounting regulations and best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
