Summary

Coordinates volunteer recruitment, community outreach, training, and program operations for the AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs across Eastern Oregon, spending more than half of work time in the field. Uses communications tools including newsletters, social media, press releases, and radio ads to support program activities.

JOB TITLE: AmeriCorps Seniors Project Coordinator (Bilingual Preferred)

LOCATION: Pendleton, OR

FLSA: 1 FTE Non-exempt (expectation to work 40 hours per week)

SUPERVISOR: AmeriCorps Seniors Project Director

Pay Grade: B08 ($25.19 - $36.97 hourly, depending on experience)


*Grant funded position, continuity is dependent on continued funding*


10% bilingual increase possible after the successful completion of the bilingual proficiency exam

DESCRIPTION

The Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) and Senior Companion Program (SCP) provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for adults aged 55+ to support children, older adults, and community agencies. The Project Coordinator leads volunteer recruitment, community outreach, training, and program operations in alignment with AmeriCorps Seniors Project Director and federal grant requirements. The Project Coordinator will spend considerable time in the community strengthening relationships, recruiting volunteers, and supporting volunteer stations.

This position is under the supervision of the AmeriCorps Seniors Project Director.

Foster Grandparent & Senior Companion volunteers serve at various locations throughout the Eastern Oregon AmeriCorps Seniors Program service area: Umatilla, Morrow, Union, Grant, Harney, Malheur, Deschutes, Crook. Jefferson, Baker, and Wasco counties.



RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Engagement & Outreach

· Represent the programs in the community by giving presentations, participating in meetings and conferences, and building local partnerships.

· Conduct outreach to recruit senior volunteers and develop new volunteer station relationships.

· Spend more than 50% of work time in the field, attending events, conducting outreach, and supporting volunteer stations.

Volunteer Recruitment, Training & Support

· Recruit, screen, place, and supervise volunteers to ensure successful assignments.

· Plan and organize volunteer meetings and events, including schedules and agendas.

· Deliver ongoing volunteer training on program objectives, community resources, and advanced learning opportunities.

· Recruit community professionals and subject experts to support training sessions.

· Assist in the coordination, training, and retention of volunteers.

Program Coordination

· Support planning and coordination of program activities.

· Maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with federal grant requirements.

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with volunteer stations; negotiate, review, and update Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) based on community needs.

· Ensure appropriate use of technology for all program operations.

Communications & Outreach Materials

· Manage program communications including newsletters, social media, press releases, radio ads, and general media relations.

· Help build positive working relationships with internal staff and external partners.

Administrative & Operational Duties

· Track expenditures and manage project budgets responsibly.

· Maintain office supplies, training materials, and related resources.

· Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulations.

Perform other duties as assigned.
