What Will You Be Doing?
The Analyst, Material Operations position has 3 key focus areas: 1) Demand Planning, 2) Inventory Management, and 3) Process Improvements. The role will participate on cross-functional teams to determine inventory needs and ensure inventory reporting accuracy. In addition, the Analyst, Material Operations will set up an inventory status and tracking program to continuously improve service level performance.
Essential Functions
Demand Planning (40%)
- Participate on cross-functional teams to determine inventory needs based on planned demand.
- Analyze historical usage rates and component failure rates, in conjunction with Recommended Spares Provisioning Lists to determine optimal stocking levels and allocated spares to support the airline operations and service levels.
- Minimize on-hand inventory.
- Build team consensus on key inventory requirements and the decision-making process for changes in stocking levels.
- Issue requisitions to the buyers, answer questions, conduct reviews and resolve open issues.
- Analyze existing inventory levels and open requisitions.
- Work with operations to manage changes in stocking levels.
Inventory Management (40%)
- Develop a process to identify and track key metrics to manage full inventory cycle.
- Gain consensus with operations on appropriate metrics and tracking process.
- Review inventory management process with Material Services and gain buy-in.
- Review inventory cycle count process and implement changes to increase cycle count accuracy.
- Manage cycle count progress and track key metrics.
- Support operating groups to negotiate significant issues with the suppliers regarding commercial disputes, operational problems, and communication processes.
- Collaborate with operating groups to build action plans for inventory accuracy improvement.
Process Improvements (20%)
- Identify key material operations processes that need to be re-designed or enhanced to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Work with all process user groups to flow chart existing processes and determine weaknesses.
- Design new processes or enhancements to existing process to fix flaws and improve efficiency.
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency/accuracy of the preset inventory levels.
- Find and implement opportunities to automate processes and eliminate non-value-added work.
Other Functions
- Support operations in resolving inventory-related issues.
- Lead quarterly business review meetings with supplier business partners.
- Support tactical purchasing requirements when needed.
- Manage material process for major aircraft modifications.
- All other duties as reasonably requested by the Material Operations Manager
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Logistics, Finance, Supply Chain Management or other related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management or MBA highly preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in supply chain management, logistics, material planning, financial analysis or related function
- Experience with sourcing airline goods and services preferred
- Leadership or project management experience in supply chain operations, financial analysis
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in research and analysis, forecasting, and leading projects
- Competent in financial analysis and assessment; logistics; strategic sourcing; presentation skills; communication skills; project management; value-based decision analysis; process design and improvement; and consensus building strongly preferred
- Experience in change management, performance management, team building and resource planning and management
- Demonstrates organizational values of integrity, respect for people, diversity appreciation, innovation, adherence to ethical standards, challenging the status quo, excellence in performance, commitment to shareholder value, teamwork and continuous improvement
