What You Will Be Doing
The HRIS Application Developer 4 serves as the State of Alaska’s foremost expert in Human Resource Information Systems, driving innovation and ensuring the HRIS evolves to meet the State’s most complex operational, statutory, and regulatory needs. In this role, you will champion enterprise-level HRIS functionality, shape statewide strategy, and deliver solutions that directly support the mission-critical work of HR, payroll, labor relations, and management across all agencies. You will translate high-stakes requirements into intelligent system design, guide teams through transformative projects, and ensure the HRIS remains robust, reliable, and ready for the future.
The HRIS Application Developer will be responsible for:
- Representing and advocating for the needs of the State’s HRIS within the Division of Finance and across all state agencies, while providing expert technical assistance to organizations that exchange HR and payroll information with the State.
- Acting as a team lead or supervisor by providing vision, guidance, and direction to HRIS team members and contractors; driving HRIS enhancement projects; monitoring contractual services; and overseeing statewide payroll production processing.

Training in computer science or system analysis and/or progressively responsible professional experience analyzing, developing, testing, troubleshooting, or maintaining computer applications.
