JOB SUMMARY:
The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing the sanitation performance, budgets, and staffing for a number of facilities in an assigned geographical region. This individual will spend time with the Site Managers in his or her area providing guidance on how to effectively manage their sites. He or she will help troubleshoot any complex sanitation issues in his/her area and will put action plans in place to ensure issues do not reoccur. This individual has direct oversight of the sitess budgets and must monitor them routinely to maintain their profitability. The Area Manager will also promote positive customer relations with the managements team in his/her area. This individual must possess strong management skills and be capable of leading a team of managers.
EDUCATION:
Required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree; or some college courses
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 3-5 years of verifiable experience in a site manager role within the Protein Processing industry.
Preferred: 5+ years of experience in the protein industry as supervisor or in a quality assurance management position.
POSITION REQUIREMENT(S): Specialized Skills/License/Certification
Required: Must possess sound knowledge of steps to sanitary restoration. Must be knowledgeable in industrial safety practices such as Lock Out/Tag Out, HAZCOMM, and other areas. Familiar with GMPs. Previous experience with automated time and attendance systems such as Kronos or ADP
Preferred: Bi-lingual highly preferred (English/Spanish).
CORE COMPETENCIES (Essential Job Functions):
- Responsible for ensuring that all assigned sites are adequately staffed, trained, and have the necessary equipment and personal protective equipment to perform the sanitation process safely and effectively.
- Monitors all operations, safety, HR, and Food Safety KPIs for assigned sites and works with site managers to trouble shoot problem areas.
- Perform routine site visits at all sites in assigned area to monitor the sanitation process.
- Attend regular business reviews as representative for QSI Operations
- Review and Approve chemical, PPE, and equipment orders from sites in assigned area
- Maintain constant line of communication with customers’ management teams with regard to sanitation operations.
- Responsible for completing necessary reports and communicating effectively with customer personnel and QSI upper management team
- Monitor sites’ weekly time cards and attendance in QSI’s ADP system to ensure site managers are addressing attendance or time keeping issues appropriately.
- Maintain records of sanitation processes, deficiencies, employee training, etc. May be required to perform the duties of a site manager when necessary
- Administer company’s progressive discipline policy when necessary.
- Other duties or special projects as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Be able to communicate with team members, company managers, customer staff and government officials
- Be willing to work all shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
- Be willing to work in all environmental conditions that exist in food processing plants (hot, cold, loud and wet)
- Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor and represent the company in a professional manner to our customers, prospective customers, managers and employees
- Be able to work effectively with all levels of the organization, including management, supervisory and entry-level hourly employees
- Must be dependable, competent and willing to follow up on assigned tasks
