Assistant Manager

The Assistant Manager, IT supports the Head of IT in managing BHID IT infrastructure, systems, cybersecurity, user support, vendors and overall IT operations. The position also serves as second-in-command, taking responsibility for operational IT matters when the Head of IT is absent.

Responsibilities:

•IT Infrastructure & Operations – Maintain and monitor servers, networks, firewalls, Wi-Fi, endpoints, storage and other systems; troubleshoot issues and coordinate technology upgrades.

•Cybersecurity – Manage security controls such as endpoint protection, firewall, email security, MFA, VPN and access controls; review security alerts, vulnerabilities and incidents.

•User & Access Management – Manage user accounts and permissions, conduct access reviews and ensure accounts are promptly updated or disabled when staff leave or transfer.

•IT Governance & Compliance – Create and maintain IT policies, procedures, documentation and records; support regulatory compliance, data protection, cybersecurity requirements and audits.

•IT Support – Oversee day-to-day IT support, provide technical guidance and handle escalated or complex incidents.

•Projects & Digitalisation – Support IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, software and digitalisation projects, including technology refreshes; coordinate implementation, migration, deployment and vendor activities.

•Vendor, Contract & Procurement Management – Obtain/evaluate quotations, manage vendors and renewals, prepare technical specifications and assess solutions based on security, cost and operational requirements.

•Budget Management – Assist with annual IT operating/capital budgets, monitor expenditure and identify cost optimisation opportunities.

•Backup & Business Continuity – Monitor backups, conduct restoration tests, create and review disaster recovery procedures and assist with recovery following outages or cyber incidents.

•Documentation & Reporting – Maintain IT documentation and prepare management/committee reports covering IT performance, risks, projects and cybersecurity.

•Team Supervision – Guide IT staff, assign and monitor tasks, review technical work and coordinate operational priorities.

•Covering for Head of IT – Oversee daily operations, manage major outages/security incidents, coordinate vendors and stakeholders, make delegated operational decisions and escalate significant risks to management.
