Asst Warehouse Manager
JOB PURPOSE:
The Warehouse Assistant Manager is responsible for product knowledge, advertising, policy compliance, procedures, rules and regulations governing operations, activities and in compliance with regulatory agencies. Assists the warehouse manager with all daily operations, to include assisting with the review of requisitions, determining merchandise availability and distribution. Assists with recruitment, job trainings, and employee performance. Operate a forklift, and equipment pertaining to warehouse operations. Produce various reports regarding warehouse activity and performance. Must be able to ensure workplace safety, productivity and teamwork within the warehouse staff.

- Supervise and train team members in daily tasks and safety procedures.
- Schedule shifts and delegate responsibilities effectively.
- Works with Warehouse Manager and General Manager to provide feedback with their team’s performance evaluations.
- Set warehouse and team goals in collaboration with Warehouse Manager and General Manager.
- Effectively supervise warehouse associates, monitoring work and ensuring the safe use of warehouse equipment.
- Establish warehouse practices and protocols to achieve an efficient warehouse.
- Monitor workplace performance and lead training initiatives to improve employees.
- Keep up to date on the latest federal and state safety regulations.
- Responsible to maintain a clean and sanitary conditions of facility.
- Ensure warehouse associates are effectively rotating products as per best dates, First-In-First-Out.
- Daily communication with trucking companies to schedule container movements to and from PDC.
- May be required to open and/or close facility daily.
- Assume responsibility of all warehouse operations from opening to closing in the absence of Warehouse Manager.
- Provide advice, support, and assistance to all employees in the warehouse as needed.
- Be able to effectively communicate with the various department heads including Sales, Inventory, Accounting, Buyers, as well as Payless Store Managers.
- Assist with interviewing job applicants, hiring, and discharging, as needed.
- Assist with conducting performance evaluations, as needed.
- Demonstrates product knowledge, understands movement, the supply chain, and orders efficiently.
- Manage and controls damages in accordance with company guidelines.
- Receives and verifies merchandise if receiver is unavailable.
- Check outgoing products, as needed, to ensure matches invoice(s).
- Assist walk-in customers.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
