Automation Tester in Java

We are looking for an experienced Automation Tester in Java to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the quality of web applications, APIs, and microservices.

The ideal candidate brings solid experience in software testing within agile environments and full development lifecycles, combining strong test automation skills with a proactive, quality-focused mindset. You will be responsible for designing test strategies, building automated test suites, and contributing to continuous improvement across the testing process.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement test strategies and test plans, including the definition of acceptance criteria
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts for frontend (web, mobile) and backend (services) using BDD frameworks
• Execute functional and non-functional testing across web applications, APIs, and microservices
• Conduct performance testing and interpret results to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and manage code within version control systems
• Perform data validation through database queries to support testing activities
• Apply quality metrics and data analytics to monitor and improve testing outcomes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, actively participating in agile ceremonies, reviews, and refinements
• Promote shift-left and shift-right testing practices across the development lifecycle

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in software testing
• Proven experience participating in agile projects and complete development cycles
• Hands-on experience testing web applications, APIs, and microservices
• Strong knowledge of testing processes and types (ISTQB Foundation Level / Agile Tester)
• Solid experience with functional and non-functional test automation tools
• Experience with BDD-based test design and automation frameworks such as Serenity BDD, Screenplay, Gherkin, and Cucumber
• Working knowledge of test management tools (Jira, X-Ray)
• Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or K6, including result interpretation
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps) and source code repositories (Git)
• Knowledge of relational databases (SQL, Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL) and data validation for testing
• Experience with data analytics applied to quality metrics
• Understanding of software engineering best practices (SOLID principles, Clean Code, Refactoring, DRY, DAMP)
• Strong knowledge of GenAI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Windsurf) applied to testing
• Knowledge of agile methodologies and frameworks (Scrum, Kanban)
• Clear communication skills in technical contexts, with the ability to explain work to different roles and adapt the message to the audience

Nice to have

• Experience with Cucumber
• Familiarity with security testing and tools such as OWASP ZAP, including automated security test scripting
• Experience managing automation pipelines
• Knowledge of test automation framework architecture
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Microsoft Copilot
• Knowledge of ITIL v4
