Backend Developer

Position Overview

Cardo Systems is seeking a talented and proactive Backend Developer to join our engineering team.

In this role, you will design, build, and operate high-scale backend services that power a globally distributed platform connecting mobile applications, cloud services, and connected devices. Our systems handle real-time interactions and large volumes of data, requiring a strong focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.

You will work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment alongside backend engineers, mobile developers, product managers, and data teams to deliver end-to-end solutions for complex business and technical challenges.

As a Backend Developer, you will take ownership of features from design through production, contribute to architectural decisions, and continuously improve system reliability, performance, and developer experience.

Full-time position in a hybrid model (from the company’s offices in Ra’anana/from home).

Requirements

Experience

• 4+ years of experience in backend development, including at least 2 years of hands-on experience with Python.
• Strong experience building and operating production systems on AWS.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing scalable distributed systems (microservices, REST APIs).
• Experience working with NoSQL databases, preferably MongoDB.
• Experience implementing observability practices using tools such as Grafana, Datadog, or similar.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of backend design principles, system reliability, performance optimization, and clean architecture.
• Ability to take full ownership of features end-to-end, from design through deployment and production monitoring.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex production issues.
• Hands-on experience or a strong willingness to work with AI tools to boost engineering efficiency and code quality.

Advantages

• Deep understanding of serverless computing, specifically AWS Lambda and the Serverless Framework.
• Experience working with data platforms or collaborating closely with BI/Data teams.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with SQL databases and relational data modeling.
• Experience working with additional cloud providers (GCP, Azure).
• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban).
