Behavioral Support Liaison

POSITION SUMMARY:
The School Aged Childcare (SACC) Behavioral Support Liaison conducts behavioral assessments and
provides support and consultation to YMCA Staff serving children enrolled in Y Care and/or Seasonal Day
Camps who have been identified with complex and/or high needs, behavioral, developmental, and/or
physical, that may impact their ability to participate successfully in program activities. This
position helps create and maintain a culture of Belonging, Achievement, and Relationships
(BAR) that aligns with the Y Core Values and Guiding Principles.


This individual will have the skills necessary to be comfortable with conflict resolution, proficient with
observation and analysis to make informed decisions, work well with both adults and children, and
provide objective feedback to support engagement in Y Care and/or Seasonal Day Camps. Additionally,
this individual will act as a liaison between the YMCA and School District Behavioral Specialists to
support consistency of mitigation techniques from school day to Y Care.


This is a grant-funded position and will be reevaluated after the first year of funding to determine if it
continues. Funds are expected to be available July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027.
This position does not provide clinical diagnosis or therapy but instead works within an
educational/behavioral support framework.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assessment/Consultation
a. Establishes an observation routine to support morning and afternoon Y Care hours to
be present on-site at a minimum of two morning shifts and up to three afternoon
shifts within a two-week work schedule.
b. Assesses Y Care operations and curriculum to support youth with complex needs and
may develop curriculum to support appropriate emotional regulation
c. Supports Y Care staff to facilitate Parent/Caregiver conversations that include but are
not limited to Plans of Success, Re-entry plans, and/or Behavior Notifications to
support successful engagement in Y Care
d. Coordinates planning, implementation and evaluation of SACC programs to support
positive behaviors and mitigation techniques by incorporating a combination of
program facilitation, SEL best practices, and transition techniques that can be
standardized across all Y Care sites
e. Communicates with Program Directors and site staff on any progress notes, problems,
or other concerning information which occurred during Y Care hours regarding children
with complex needs
2. Training/Coaching
a. Develops and implements behavioral support training materials for Y Care staff as part
of quality engagement standards across all Y Care/Seasonal Day Camp sites
b. Participates in site staff meetings to discuss implementation of training materials
to assist behavioral needs for site staff to run a high-quality Y Care site
c. Supports on-site staff and volunteers with coaching conversations to empower them to
implement mitigation techniques and strategies when needed while on site
3. Documentation/Reporting
a. Maintains appropriate record keeping, including but not limited to incident reports and
discipline records to support parent conversations, enrollment decisions, and follow up
strategies
b. Provides appropriate referrals for child and family support services when/if needed
c. Supports quarterly reports of Complex Needs Grant to show progress and impact of
funds being used by maintaining accurate records as established in the grant
requirements and guidelines
4. Relationship/Safety
a. Fosters positive relationships with staff, children, families, school personnel and the
community
b. Maintains safety and health standards by overseeing responses in Health Care Safety
Zone to determine priority behaviors and support positive intervention
