SUMMARY:
The Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Analyst position involves gathering and analyzing information for recommendations to the BSA Officer (BSAO) and Senior Management when and where appropriate. The BSA Analyst will work with operations to investigate transactions that are suspicious in nature while monitoring and tracking high-risk customers and accounts. Working well with staff across multiple branches, while being self-motivated and able to work independently will be essential to this position.
JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist BSAO with implementation and administration of all aspects of the day-to-day BSA, Anti-Money Laundering, OFAC and Customer Identification Programs.
- Track and report to BSAO exceptions, weaknesses, and deficiencies in customer data gathered and verified for CIP, Know Your Customer, Customer Due Diligence, and Beneficial Ownership.
- Obtain additional customer information or research needed for supporting documentation, reports, risk mitigation, and supplemental background information.
- Monitor, investigate and evaluate customer transactional patterns, reporting unusual activity for investigation to the BSAO.
- Create and modify Currency Transaction Reports.
- Complete government list monitoring and reporting and notify BSAO of any suspect matches and identified deficiencies.
- Strict adherence, monitoring, and reporting of all banking applicable regulations as required. Complete assigned projects by designated deadlines.
- Work with department leaders and staff daily
- Assist with job specific BSA/OFAC staff training Maintain strong knowledge of current BSA and OFAC laws and regulations.
- Communicate with department leads to clear exceptions and escalate as necessary.
- Conduct AML investigations to detect and determine suspicious and/or illegal activity.
- Maintain detailed records of all information used in account investigation to clear or escalate an alert.
- Generate and assist with Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Suspicious Activity Investigation Reports (SAIRs).
- Perform cash report review (to include review of Monetary Instrument Log ( MIL ) and bank checks issued).
- Perform wire activity and ACH reviews.
- Perform MSB and exempt client reviews.
- Assist and perform High Risk Customer Reviews.
- Facilitate and perform periodic (90 Day) SAR follow-up reviews.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
