Business Development & Consulting Representative
Overview
Business Development/Consultant reports to the Director of Business Develpmnet and is responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying and securing new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and maintaining an active sales pipeline. This role includes prospecting for new leads, pursuing project opportunities, preparing proposals, and managing opportunities through the CRM system, while also providing fire/life-safety consulting services as required by the business unit.
The position serves as a key link between business development and operations by ensuring smooth project on-boarding and hand-off processes after work is awarded. The Business Development Representative also monitors market activity, develops strategic relationships with owners, developers, and industry partners, and provides market intelligence to support business planning and growth initiatives.
Success in this role requires strong sales acumen, relationship-building skills, organization, and a proactive approach to expanding NV5's market presence while achieving established sales and revenue goals.
Responsibilities
- Identifying target-rich potential markets,Identifying leads.
- Cultivating leads to opportunities, provide technical solutions to client.
- Expand our services, as well as the NV5 service offering, with existing clients.Closing opportunities to meet sales goals for the business unit and NV5 cross-sell.
- Provide consulting for fire/life-safety services.
- Closing opportunities to meet sales goals.
- Make sales calls to gain access to new leads and follow up on upcoming or previously bid projects.
- Complete bid work, submit proposals for new projects, and update the current CRM.
- Update and follow the sales process developed in the current CRM.
- Submit newly closed projects and maintain engagement completely through the onboarding process.
- Review external sales database for new projects and opportunities, make calls as needed to secure new bid opportunities, and maintain current listing of potential projects.
- Attend weekly meetings with the Director of Business Development to discuss sales activity, pipeline, and funnel.
- Ensure both internal and external project handoff meetings are scheduled for closed work.
- Maintain new customer relationships beyond project-by-project bid. Develop relationships with Developers, Owners, and service providers to enable NV5 to expand its target work.
- Establish quarterly travel plans and submit them to the Director of Business Development or Business Unit Lead for approval.
- Provide input and feedback to the Director of Business Development to assist in the development of business plans.
- Provide fire and life safety consulting services for new and existing facilities, ensuring compliance with applicable building, fire, and life safety codes and standards.
- Perform building and fire code reviews, life safety evaluations, egress studies, due diligence assessments, and compliance analyses.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field, preferred.
- 5 Years' minumum experience in business developmnet.
- Full knowledge of sales operations and understanding of how NV5’s suite of services will benefit customers and the ability to articulate/communicate the concepts to the customers.
- Ability to learn customer sales and accounting as they relate to customer programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills demonstrate the ability to build and cultivate target contacts to engage new customers.
- Ability to articulate/communicate to the operations group(s) all aspects of a sold contractual scope and deliverables, including any customer nuances.
- Any licenses or technical certifications related to the operations of the business is preferred.
- Microsoft Office Suite, sales database, and contact relationship management (CRM) software utilized by NV5.
Physical Requirements
- Constantly work effectively using a laptop computer for long periods.
- Frequently required to use hands/fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls.
- Constantly be able to focus vision on objects at a close range.
- Typical travel time will average 50% but can peak at certain times.
