Business Development Officer

Hours: 9:00am – 6:00pm, Monday – Friday w/ some Saturdays. Hours may vary for events, and may include the occasional evening, weekend, or holiday.

Pay: $65,000 DOE. + opportunities for quarterly bonus and incentive.


Your Purpose will be:

The person in this position will prospect new clients through networking, cold calling, advertising, or other means of generating interest from potential members. They must develop a rapport with local businesses and provide support that will continually improve the relationship with them. This person will grow select employer groups by presenting new solutions and services to their employees. They must manage the activities of others responsible for developing business for the company. This requires a thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services the Credit Union can provide, and of the Credit Union’s competitors. Also, every employee is responsible for fulfilling our Mission Statement: “We elevate our members' financial experience through best-in-class service and solutions.”


What you’ll do:

New Business Development:

  • Prospect for potential new member opportunities and turn this into new member growth.
  • Cold call as appropriate within our field of membership market to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.
  • Meet potential select employer groups by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
  • Identify potential members, and the decision makers within their organization.
  • Research and build relationships with new employer groups.
  • Set up and facilitate new member drives.
  • Plan persuasive approaches and pitches that will provide additional member drives and increase new member growth within the community.
  • Participate in creating marketing promotions to attract new members.
  • Present new products and services to enhance existing relationships.
  • Work with operations and branches to ensure new memberships are opened and on-boarded.

Business Development Planning:

  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and new products and services.
  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in new members.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
  • Comfortably present pitches for large groups and present in front of a camera.

Management and Research:

  • Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
  • Forecast new member growth and ensure goals are met.
  • Track and record activity utilizing Monday.com
  • Work with marketing staff to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
  • Present business development training and mentoring to branch staff.
  • Research and develop a thorough understanding of the Credit Union’s people and capabilities.
  • Understand the company’s goal and purpose so to enhance the Credit Union’s performance.
  • Understand, measure and ensure low- income designation is met each year.
  • Understands the Bank Secrecy Act and how it is applied.
