Business Development & Research Intern - Nairobi based
This is an internship of up to 6 months, expected to start late August 2026. Candidates must be based in Nairobi and have access to a home office setup that supports full-time remote work.
We are seeking a Business Development & Research Intern to join our growing bid response and business development team. Working closely with BwB's senior leaders and business development specialists, you will play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of our BD strategy, helping identify and advance new partnership and funding opportunities. This is a dynamic role spanning bid research, client engagement support, proposal development, and market analysis.
Responsibilities
- Design and scope new sustainable finance proposals and bid responses across clean energy, sustainable transport, debt instruments, nature-based solutions, and climate-aligned public finance
- Research funding opportunities, donor priorities, and institutional landscapes — including government procurement, development finance institutions, and climate finance mechanisms
- Produce high-quality research memoranda and analytical briefs on funder priorities, sector trends, and partnership opportunities for senior leaders
- Develop and refine proposal narratives, theories of change, and strategic frameworks for bidding processes
- Create presentations and supporting materials for partnership discussions and client engagement
- Manage BD pipelines and track business development activity across geographies and funding windows
- Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines

- Proficient when it comes to managing timelines

- Desirable skills include research and presentation building. Experience or demonstrated capability in any of these areas would be viewed positively
- Proficiency in English is required, mastery of a second language is highly desirable
- A recent graduate, ideally with a background in Sustainable Finance, Climate Change, or International Development.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
