Location
Prelude's corporate office is located in Mechanicsburg, PA. This position is fully remote for applicants currently living in and authorized to work in the United States.
Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer directs and oversees the financial activities of the company, directs the preparation of financial reports and summaries, and creates forecasts predicting future growth. Responsible for all financial operations of the company, including financial reports, audits, financings, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets that enhance the accuracy of reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
Essential Functions
- Direct the timely preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts, and report variances from the budget to management. Compare sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses, making necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
- Work with the CEO and other executives on strategic planning and identify opportunities for expansion into new product areas or markets.
- Study long-range economic trends and projects their impact on future growth in sales and market share.
- Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly.
- Process payroll and time records in a timely and accurate manner, following IRS laws and regulations.
- Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
- Ensure that required debt payments and accounts payable are made on a timely basis.
- Maintain the chart of accounts, an orderly accounting filing system, and a system of controls over accounting transactions.
- Prepare and present financial reports and strategic financial guidance to the Board of Directors.
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Ensure that client billing is accurate and completed on a timely basis.
- Interface with bank professionals and tax professionals.
- Crosstrain staff to ensure there is a back-up for critical financial systems.
