CNC programmer
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Programmer to develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for machining operations. The CNC Programmer will be responsible for creating efficient machining programs, selecting appropriate cutting tools and machining processes, and ensuring components are produced accurately according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for milling, turning, and other CNC machining equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Develop machining strategies, including tool selection, cutting parameters, workholding, and machining sequences.
- Use CAM software to generate CNC programs and toolpaths.
- Set and verify machine offsets, tool data, and program parameters.
- Perform program simulations and verify toolpaths to identify potential collisions or machining issues.
- Conduct first-off inspections and work closely with machinists and quality personnel to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Troubleshoot machining problems and make program adjustments when required.
- Optimize programs to improve cycle time, tool life, surface finish, and overall productivity.
- Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, revisions, tooling, and machining processes.
- Work closely with engineers, production teams, and quality inspectors to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Ensure all CNC programs and machining activities comply with company quality and safety procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and implement more efficient manufacturing methods.
Qualifications
- Diploma, certificate, or technical qualification in CNC Machining, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a CNC Programmer, CNC Machinist/Programmer, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes and G-code/M-code programming.
- Experience with CNC milling and/or turning machines.
- Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM, SolidCAM, or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, workholding methods, feeds and speeds, and machining materials.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively with production and engineering teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis CNC machining.
- Experience programming complex or precision components.
- Knowledge of CNC machine controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, or Mazak.
- Experience with tool management and machining process optimization.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
- Ability to use measuring equipment such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMMs.
