COE Business Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the college Associate Business Officer, serve as Business Manager for assigned cost centers within the College of Education. Analyze and monitor budgets, review funding requests, and provide recommendations to cost center leadership. Prepare budgetary, accounting, procurement, revenue, and HR transactions. Generate reports for relevant stakeholders. Maintain a high level of confidentiality.

JOB DUTIES:

10% Human Resources/Payroll Support: Reviews payroll, ensuring proper distribution of pay. Prepares payroll corrections as needed. Reviews summer pay authorization forms foreligible employees & monitors summer payroll. Coordinates costing allocation changes with college HR Liaison.

25% Budgeting & Reporting: Prepares annual budget, including salary roll for assigned cost centers. Prepares budgetary actions such as amendments & revisions. Monitors expenditures, provides feedback to clear budget check errors, reviews funding requests from faculty & advises cost center leadership. Reviews monthly detailed budget status reports, Statement of Changes, and ensures transactions are accounted for properly. Prepares corrections as needed & promptly identifies discrepancies. Prepares reports as necessary to help cost center leadership make informed financial decisions.

35% Financial Management: Coordinates all procurement, disbursement, and revenue activities for assigned cost centers. Assists employees with procurement for ordering, ensuring compliance with policies & procedures. Prepares financial transactions for all funding sources following federal, state, university, and college guidelines. Serves as the procurement card liaison for assigned cardholders. Reviews and approve Workday tasks. Ensures adequate funding is available prior to processing expenditures or reimbursements. Ensures all supporting documentation is maintained for valid & authorized purchases. Oversees deposits & reconciliations of revenues to ensure compliance with CU policies. Maintains auditable files. Attends required training.

5% College Support: Provides back-up to other college Business Managers when necessary. Other duties as assigned.

25% Sponsored Project Management: Manages sponsored programs accounts from award to close-out, including required cost-sharing. Works closely with the college business office,college grants office, and Grants & Contracts Administration (GCA). Ensures PI approval is obtained on all expenditures and that expenditures are both allowable and allocable onthe project to which they are being charged.

Minimum Requirements:

Min Education: A high school diploma. A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for the required work experience.

Min Exp: Related financial experience. A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for the required work experience.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION:

Expected Salary Range

$37,541 - $57,520

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL:

Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
