College Intern - Procurement/Sourcing Engineer (Category Intelligence)

What a College Intern - Procurement/Sourcing Engineer (Category Intelligence) does at HP:

  • Support and analyze supplier capability assessments, technical evaluations, qualification activities, and sourcing recommendations.
  • Collaborate with internal procurement, engineering, quality and supplier teams to address sourcing and quality challenges.
  • Conduct category and market research on supplier landscapes, technology trends, raw-material cost drivers, and supply risks, including should-cost models based on materials, manufacturing processes, tooling, and logistics.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization, value engineering, alternative materials, and process improvements.

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Science, Data Science, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
  • Ability to commit to a 5 to 6-month full-time internship starting in January 2027.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and with suppliers.
  • Ability to apply engineering knowledge to resolve materials related issues, specifications, manufacturing processes, supplier capabilities, cost, and quality evaluation.
  • Ability to translate technical, supplier, cost, and quality data into clear, actionable sourcing recommendations.
  • Knowledge of materials and components used in thermal inkjet cartridges is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as 5 Whys, Pareto analysis, 8D, or FMEA, DOE and SPC
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and structured-thinking skills.
  • Experience with analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI and Excel.
  • Experience with AI and AI-powered agent workflows.
