Compliance Officer

Our client is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to join the Paarl, Western Cape Team

  • Policy development and enforcement related to money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing
  • Policy & Control Enhancements
  • Customer Risk Rating/Profiling
  • Training & Awareness: Provide AML/CTF/CPF training and refresher training to staff
  • Maintain and review Risk Management & Compliance Program (RMCP)
  • Regulatory Reporting
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Regulatory Engagement
  • Transaction Reporting
  • Sanctions & PEP Screening
  • Risk Identification & Remediation
  • Corporate Onboarding: Vet, review, and onboard corporate clients, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements
  • Due Diligence: Conduct detailed due diligence checks on prospective partners, organizations, and counterparties to mitigate financial crime risks
  • Review and endorsement of Contracts/Agreements


Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • BCom degree (preferred majors: Compliance, Law, Finance, Risk Management, or related field). – Advantage
  • Additional compliance certifications beneficial (e.g., Compliance Institute of SA accreditation, AML/CFT certifications, or relevant governance qualifications)
  • Minimum 5 years’ compliance experience within the financial services sector (excluding ADLA-only experience)
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with regulators, preparing compliance documentation, and supporting regulatory audits
  • Proven experience in compliance monitoring, reporting, and advisory functions within an FSP environment
  • Strong understanding of the financial regulatory environment applicable to FSPs, including FIC Act and the 7 Pillars of AML/CFT Compliance, FAIS / Conduct Standards (or equivalent legislation in your jurisdiction), Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles, POPIA / Data protection requirements, Outsourcing and third-party regulatory requirements
  • Experience in Banking and Financial Services compliance with a solid understanding of regulatory bodies and supervisory expectations
  • Ability to analyse, draft, and review commercial contracts and service agreements to ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation
  • Anti-Money Laundering / Counter-Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) expertise, including risk assessments, monitoring, reporting, and governance
  • Strong risk management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements to business operations
