CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS MANAGER

Knife River Materials is seeking an experienced Construction Operations Manager to lead and oversee all construction operations south of Roseburg, Oregon. Based in Medford, OR, this leadership role is responsible for driving operational performance, safety, project execution, workforce management, financial results, and customer satisfaction across multiple construction projects and crews.
The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with strong operational expertise, experience managing union workforces, and a proven track record of delivering projects safely, efficiently, and profitably.
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead construction operations from pre-construction planning through project completion.
- Provide strategic oversight of scheduling, labor allocation, production, equipment utilization, and project execution.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Partner with project teams, customers, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Oversee development and execution of project schedules and monitor progress throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and analyze monthly financial reports, work-in-progress reports, and daily cost reports to drive operational and financial performance.
- Champion a culture of safety by conducting safety meetings, supporting investigations, and ensuring compliance with Knife River’s I Choose Safety programs.
- Lead workforce planning, dispatching, recruiting, and team development efforts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, community partners, trade organizations, and industry stakeholders.
- Complete operational, regulatory, and administrative documentation accurately and on time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive construction management leadership experience.
- Experience managing large-scale, multi-union construction operations.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, equipment, and project execution.
- Working knowledge of job cost accounting, budgeting, and estimating.
- Proven leadership and team development skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational and prioritization capabilities.
- Customer-focused approach with experience serving both public and private sector clients.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including occasional nights and weekends as needed.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with HCSS HeavyBid and HeavyJob.
- Experience using Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of construction financial reporting and performance metrics.
