Credit Analyst
Make smart lending decisions that make a real difference.
At Neighbors Credit Union, lending is about more than reviewing numbers—it is about understanding the person behind the application and finding responsible ways to help our members move forward. We are looking for a confident and thoughtful Credit Analyst to review and underwrite consumer and home equity loan applications. In this role, you will use financial analysis, lending guidelines, and sound judgment to make lending decisions that balance member needs with responsible risk management. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, making informed decisions, and collaborating with others to create positive lending experiences.
What You’ll Do
As a Credit Analyst, you will:
- Review and underwrite consumer and home equity loan applications by analyzing credit history, income, debt, collateral, and other financial information.
- Approve, decline, or recommend lending decisions within your assigned lending authority.
- Look beyond the credit score by evaluating the full financial picture, including compensating factors and the member’s individual circumstances.
- Work through complex lending situations using underwriting guidelines, policy interpretation, and sound judgment.
- Recommend lending solutions that support members’ financial needs while protecting the credit union from unnecessary risk.
- Partner with Loan Production, Branch Operations, Member Service, and Loan Servicing to gather information, resolve application questions, and communicate lending decisions.
- Clearly explain lending decisions and identify what additional information may be needed to move an application forward.
- Ensure lending decisions comply with credit union policies, underwriting guidelines, and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Stay current on consumer lending products, underwriting practices, regulations, and lending systems.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for employees who have questions about lending requirements or underwriting decisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve underwriting consistency, turnaround times, processes, and the overall lending experience.
- Participate in quality reviews, employee training, and departmental projects.
