Data Engineering Consultant

Open 0d
Why this role?

If you're looking to move beyond BAU and work with a variety of clients on modern data platforms, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a consultancy who has an excellent reputation.

You'll work across multiple client engagements, helping organisations modernise their data platforms using Microsoft's latest technologies. This is a genuine consulting role, giving you exposure to different industries, projects and technical challenges, while being supported by an experienced team.

This is a hands-on delivery position. You'll be designing, building and delivering modern data solutions, taking ownership of workstreams and quickly becoming a trusted consultant for your clients.

What you'll be doing

You'll be involved from design through to delivery, building modern cloud data platforms that solve real business problems.
  • Design, build and deliver modern data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory and Databricks
  • Develop scalable data pipelines and lakehouse solutions using Medallion architecture
  • Take ownership of end-to-end data engineering workstreams from design through deployment
  • Work directly with clients to understand business challenges and translate them into practical technical solutions
  • Collaborate with experienced consultants while continuing to develop your consulting and technical capability
What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes ownership of their work, and is ready to step into (or continue building) a consulting career.

You'll ideally bring:
  • More than 3 years commercial experience as a Data Engineer
  • Hands-on delivery experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure Data Factory
  • Proven commercial Databricks experience delivering production solutions, and Asset Bundles
  • Experience designing and implementing Medallion/lakehouse architectures
  • Experience owning and delivering data engineering workstreams from start to finish
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with stakeholders
  • Previous consulting or client-facing experience is highly regarded, although not essential
  • dbt, Snowflake, Power BI and Microsoft Purview are nice to haves
Why you'll want this
  • Work with one of New Zealand's leading Microsoft data consultancies
  • Genuine career progression as the consultancy continues to grow
  • Supportive, down-to-earth culture where people enjoy working together
  • Variety, autonomy and the opportunity to make a real impact with clients
If you're ready to step out of an internal environment and into consulting where you'll solve bigger problems, work with modern technologies and accelerate your career, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply via the link or contact Rachael Tobeck at [email protected] for a confidential discussion.

Databricks and Microsoft Fabric professionals continue to be in high demand in Christchurch. If this role isn't quite the right fit, we'd still love to hear from you for future opportunities.
