Data Governance SME + Technical Team Lead

The Data Governance SME + Technical Team Lead will act as the overall engagement lead for the Data Governance squad, responsible for driving governance implementation, managing delivery priorities, coordinating stakeholders, and ensuring successful execution of data governance initiatives across the organization and Operator entities. The role combines governance expertise, delivery leadership, and technical oversight to ensure alignment with the organization's enterprise data strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage the Data Governance squad backlog, priorities, and delivery roadmap.

• Lead implementation of Data Governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating models.

• Drive stakeholder engagement across the organization, Operators, business teams, and technology teams.

• Provide subject matter expertise on data governance, metadata management, data quality, and data stewardship.

• Coordinate day-to-day technical delivery activities across project teams.

• Monitor risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation plans.

• Review and assure quality of deliverables produced by the squad.

• Support adoption of data governance tools, workflows, and best practices.

• Facilitate governance forums, working groups, and steering committee discussions.

• Track governance KPIs and report progress to the organization leadership.

Skills

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management,

or related discipline.

• 10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Architecture,

or related fields.

• Proven experience leading enterprise-wide data governance initiatives.

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Experience managing cross-functional technical teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with government, semi-government, or regulated organizations.

• Relevant certifications such as CDMP, Azure, Fabric, Purview, or Databricks.
