Design Assistant
Reporting to the Design Manager, US Academic & Professional Division, the Design Assistant provides support for the design team primarily through the preparation of backlist cover files such as reprints and POD (print-on-demand) covers, updating archived files with textual or branding corrections, adjusting file dimensions, and supplying final files for print and electronic distribution. The Design Assistant is expected to manage the cover workflow through all stages of production, from initial briefing to final files, in line with company-wide schedules, budgets, and quality standards. This position requires technical proficiency with design and layout software and a general understanding of the print production process. Design Assistants must be extremely detail-oriented and possess the ability to organize and manage a large workload while independently liaising with editorial and production staff.
