Director, Field Engineering (AI/ML)
You will lead field engineering engagements that deploy, configure, and integrate technology in complex customer environments. You will shape deployment strategy, oversee project scoping and customization, advise clients and internal stakeholders, and improve deployment processes. You will also hire, mentor, and grow the Forward Deployed Engineering function while tracking project KPIs and resolving technical escalations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Forward Deployed Engineering team
- Oversee project scoping, deployment, and customization of core technology at customer sites or in virtual deployments
- Advise clients and internal stakeholders on technical solutions
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success
- Hire, mentor, and grow a high-performing Forward Deployed Engineering team
- Define and track KPIs for deployed projects
- Improve deployment processes, tools, and methodologies
- Manage key client relationships during deployments and escalate technical challenges
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, technical consulting, or deployment roles
- At least 5 years of leadership experience
- Experience leading engineering or deployment teams in client-facing environments
- Technical background in applied AI engineering, cloud infrastructure, APIs, or data platforms
- Project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
