Director, Global Payroll

You will lead the global payroll team, overseeing end-to-end payroll operations across all entities and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing in 18 countries. You will manage relationships with payroll managed services partners, tracking SLAs, KPIs, escalations, and quarterly business reviews. You'll develop and execute a long-term global payroll strategy focused on scalability, standardization, and risk mitigation, along with a payroll automation roadmap. You'll lead payroll implementations and support geographic expansion, including new country setup, EOR management, and M&A integration. You will lead and develop a high-performing payroll team, serve as an escalation point for complex payroll matters, and collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, Treasury, and HR on accruals, reconciliations, equity compensation, cash forecasting, and employee lifecycle processes. You will oversee compliance with local, state, federal, and international laws, manage payroll tax and statutory compliance activities, oversee year-end reporting, and maintain strong internal controls to mitigate risk.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end global payroll operations across all entities
  • Manage day-to-day and strategic relationships with payroll managed services partners
  • Develop and execute a long-term global payroll strategy
  • Develop and execute a payroll automation roadmap
  • Lead payroll implementations and support global geographic expansion efforts
  • Lead and develop a high-performing global payroll team
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex payroll matters and employee inquiries
  • Partner with Accounting and Equity Administration on accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Partner with Treasury on payroll funding, cash forecasting, and new country setup
  • Partner with HR teams on employee lifecycle and statutory benefits
  • Oversee payroll administration of complex compensation elements
  • Ensure adherence with local, state, federal, and international laws and regulations
  • Manage payroll-related compliance activities including withholdings, taxes, and audits
  • Oversee year-end payroll reporting requirements globally
  • Identify and mitigate payroll-related risks and maintain internal controls

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive payroll leadership with multi-state US and international payroll experience
  • Demonstrated success leading globally dispersed teams of 5+ employees
  • Strong operational and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple complex workstreams simultaneously
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or equivalent global certification preferred
  • Proficiency interpreting local and international payroll rules and regulations
  • Understanding of statutory deductions, tax rates, social security requirements and benefits regulations in EMEA/APAC/North America
  • Proficiency with UKG and CloudPay and familiarity with Smartsheets, Google Sheets, and AI-enabled tools
  • Public company experience with equity (RSUs and ESPP) and SOX control requirements
