Electrical Engineering Manager – ICM & Internal Cables

Your Job

Molex is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead all electronic design activities for our internal cable and Integrated Connector Module (ICM) product portfolios. Based in the Taiwan Design Center (TDC), this role owns the full electronic design flow — from schematic and component selection through PCB design and design-for-manufacture — for high-speed internal interconnect solutions used in AI, server, storage, networking, and data center platforms.

This is a global leadership role managing a distributed team of electronic design engineers across multiple locations. The successful candidate is a hands-on technical leader who can go deep in electronic design while building team capability, enforcing design discipline, and driving robust, manufacturable, cost-effective designs to production.

Our Team

The ICMM Engineering organization develops high-speed interconnect and magnetics solutions for global data center, cloud, AI, storage, and networking customers. This role serves as the electronic design authority for both internal cable products — including riser cables — and ICM product design, connecting TDC-based engineering with Molex’s global engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and product management capabilities.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and own all electronic design elements for internal cable products (including riser cables) and ICM product design, covering BOM, schematic capture, component selection, EEPROM setup and configuration, PCB design, and design-for-manufacture (DFM).
  • Manage, mentor, and grow a global team of electronic design engineers located across multiple sites, setting clear standards, priorities, and development plans.
  • Establish and enforce electronic design standards, design rules, review gates, and DFM/DFMEA practices to ensure consistent, high-quality, manufacturable designs across all sites.
  • Own BOM creation and management, driving component selection for performance, reliability, availability, cost, and supply continuity in partnership with sourcing and quality.
  • Own design-for-cost discipline across electronic design decisions, ensuring architecture, component selection, PCB technology, manufacturing process choices, and supplier constraints are evaluated against cost, performance, manufacturability, and supply continuity trade-offs.
  • Lead should-cost analysis for electronic design content, partnering with sourcing, cost engineering, manufacturing, and product management to establish cost targets, validate supplier quotes, identify cost drivers, and drive value engineering actions without compromising technical requirements.
  • Direct schematic design, PCB layout, and stack-up definition, ensuring designs meet electrical performance, signal integrity, power integrity, thermal, and reliability requirements.
  • Define and oversee EEPROM setup, configuration data, and programming requirements across product families to ensure correct interoperability and platform compliance.
  • Partner with signal integrity, test, validation, mechanical design, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, operations, sales, and product management to align scope, timing, risks, and deliverables.
  • Drive design reviews, validation, qualification, and release activities with clear ownership, disciplined execution, and timely escalation.
  • Engage with customer and ODM/OEM engineering teams on electronic design requirements, trade-offs, validation results, failure analysis, corrective actions, and readiness.
  • Resolve complex electronic design issues spanning schematic, component, PCB, EEPROM, signal integrity, manufacturability, supplier quality, and customer qualification.
  • Capture voice-of-customer and technology trends and feed them into design rules, component roadmaps, cost-reduction plans, and product development strategies.
  • Maintain ownership of cost-reduction roadmaps for electronic design elements, including alternate components, PCB stack-up optimization, design simplification, supplier optionality, and roadmap alignment with customer and business cost expectations.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Significant experience in electronic design (schematic, component selection, PCB design, and DFM), with proven depth across the full electronic design flow.
  • Experience managing or leading electronic design engineers, ideally across multiple locations or in a global team structure.
  • Hands-on knowledge of BOM management, component engineering, EEPROM setup/configuration, and PCB design and layout practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive designs from concept through design, validation, qualification, and production readiness.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across engineering, signal integrity, test, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, operations, sales, and product management.
  • Ability to engage credibly in electrical and electronic technical discussions with customer engineering teams and internal subject-matter experts.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Signal integrity (SI) knowledge, including high-speed channel behavior, SI/PI validation, and interfaces such as PCIe or related standards.
  • Direct ICM (Integrated Connector Module) and magnetics product design experience — a distinct advantage for this role.
  • Experience with internal cable assemblies, riser cables, high-speed connectors, and data center / server / storage / networking platform applications.
  • Strong DFM/DFMEA discipline and experience taking electronic designs into high-volume manufacturing.
  • Proven experience applying design-for-cost, should-cost analysis, value engineering, or costed BOM ownership in electronic product development or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Experience leading globally distributed engineering teams and standardizing design processes across sites.
  • Fluent Mandarin and English communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with Taiwan-based customers and global internal teams.
