As an Engineer in Training, you'll help design, plan, test, and deliver security systems for some of the world's most advanced ships, working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams throughout the vessel lifecycle. From developing processes and tools to supporting construction, commissioning, and compliance activities, you'll apply your engineering knowledge to real-world challenges while building specialized expertise in marine security systems.

  • Originate, under the close supervision of a licensed P.Eng, routine or low complexity deliverables in the Systems Security Engineering area.
  • Review and raise comments against technical plans, reports and work products developed by internal & external stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the Systems Security Engineering area and the broader Security discipline across the business.
  • Provide technical input into the design of ship security systems, and cybersecurity input into the design of ship systems.
  • Provide oversight and management of subcontractors and the work they perform towards project milestones and objectives.
  • Bachelor's in engineering (or equivalent) required.
  • 0 to 5 years' experience applying standards with guidance; exposure to marine or shipbuilding fields through work or academics is an asset.
  • Understand shipyard disciplines (structures, piping, propulsion, HVAC, electrical, manufacturing) and cybersecurity basics.
  • Read technical drawings, work in 3D models, and assist with data analysis and investigations.
  • Develop or markup drawings; technical investigation and data analysis under supervision.
  • Clear verbal and written communication with stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate in cross-functional teams.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
