Engineering Manager
You will lead the planning and people side of an engineering organization, owning roadmaps, priorities, sequencing, career planning, coaching, performance management, hiring, headcount planning, and resource allocation. You will cultivate team health, translate technical and business requirements into delivery plans, coordinate with Engineering, Trading, and Quant teams, manage delivery risks and scope, report progress, improve delivery processes, and align team work with organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Own the roadmap, priorities, planning, and sequencing of work
- Develop engineers through career planning, promotions, coaching, and continuous performance management
- Lead hiring, headcount planning, and resource allocation
- Manage team culture, morale, productivity, and conflict
- Hold regular one-on-ones and provide clear, timely feedback
- Invest in team building
- Translate technical and business requirements into delivery plans
- Identify dependencies and risks
- Liaise between Engineering, Trading, and Quant teams to design and roll out products
- Track progress against plans
- Manage risk and scope trade-offs
- Report status to stakeholders
- Improve delivery processes and team velocity
- Align team work with organizational goals and timelines
Requirements
- Strong project management skills
- Technical background sufficient to engage in technical discussions
- Experience leading, growing, and managing software engineers
- Track record of delivering software through a team
- Strong people-leadership skills
- Coaching and feedback experience
- Conflict resolution experience
- Hiring and talent development judgment
- Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders including Trading and Quant teams
- Based in Amsterdam or willing to relocate
