Engineering Manager
About Us
We're a profitable, fully remote SaaS company (founded 2017, ~100 employees) building software that government agencies and public-sector organizations rely on to manage records, workflows, and public-facing requests. Our platform is trusted by hundreds of customers nationwide and is a category leader in its niche. We've raised institutional funding but we're not chasing growth-at-all-costs — we're default-alive and picky about who we hire.
We're looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead one of our core product engineering teams.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of 3–7 engineers, supporting their growth and development
- Partner with product and other functional teams to define and drive the technical roadmap
- Stay hands-on — 20–30% of your time in code, code review, and architectural design
- Guide key architectural decisions for scalable, performant, maintainable systems
- Set the bar for code quality, testing, documentation, and engineering excellence
What We're Looking For
- 7–15 years in full-stack engineering, with 1+ years as a people manager or team lead
- Comfortable moving between IC and management — this is not a pure people-management seat
- Startup experience strongly preferred; solid, stable tenure (ideally 3+ years per role)
- Proficiency in React/TypeScript and a backend language (Java, Python, Go, or similar)
- Comfortable with AWS, Docker, Terraform, and modern CI/CD
- Bonus: experience integrating AI tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) into team workflows
Team & Culture
We're small enough that every hire shapes who we are. Roles aren't rigidly defined — we want people who think holistically, make judgment calls, and take ownership without being asked. This is a great fit if you're motivated by direct, visible impact; it's a harder fit if you prefer a heavily structured, managed pace.
