Event Planning Support, Student Assistant Specialist
The India China Institute (ICI) at The New School seeks a highly motivated student to provide part-time support for the Institute's public programs, events, communications, and day-to-day activities.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with faculty, staff, students, invited speakers, fellows, and other members of the university community. The position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event planning, communications, digital media, and program administration in an international academic environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The student worker will assist with the planning and implementation of the Institute's public programs and activities. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Assist in coordinating public programs, including creating event pages, marketing campaigns, booking spaces, arranging catering and honoraria
Submit expense reports and navigate platforms for reservations, receipts and reconciliations (MyDay, Concur);
Manage correspondence with fellows, invited guests, event audience, students and faculty, administrators and colleagues, newsletter subscribers, etc.;
Design monthly newsletter using Mailchimp
Support other Institute programs and administrative activities as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
For Federal Work Study award letter
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a diverse group of colleagues and stakeholders.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other common digital tools.
Comfort learning and using web-based applications and new software.
Interest in event planning, communications, international affairs, higher education, or related areas.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with Mailchimp, WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar communications and design platforms.
Experience with event planning, communications, social media, or digital content creation.
Working knowledge of MyDay and/or Concur.
Experience with maintaining databases or managing online content.
Other web, digital media, or programming skills.
WORK MODE
Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely. #LI-DNI
Hourly Rate:
$19 to $21 per hour. The rate for this position is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:
The student will provide part-time support for the Institute's public programs, events, communications, and day-to-day activities. The student will collaborate with staff, faculty and students across the university. The position is open to both graduate and undergraduate students. Federal Work Students are encouraged to apply. This position may have high and low weeks of work. At times, it may demand up to 20 hours per week. At other times, it may demand fewer than 10 hours. The candidate must be available to deliver on demand.
