About the Role:

The primary function of the Facilities Manager is to create and maintain an effective and efficient Maintenance team. This team is responsible for ensuring all equipment within the building is properly maintained to maximize up time and minimize runtime failures. Swanson departments operate twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week requiring the Maintenance team to work closely with department leaders and operators to allow for proper repair and maintenance while keeping departments safe & productive.


What You'll Do:

  • Ensure department maintains a high level of work quality and productivity. Plan for, set, and achieve department and company goals.
  • Create ,monitor and implement polices and tools that support the accurate completion of all work orders and cGMP documents in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for safety standards in processes and procedures throughout the facility while ensuring a safe work environment as stated by OSHA Standards.
  • Provide operational advice and schedule needed manpower for projects and day to day operations. Properly prioritize work as required to balance business needs with available labor.
  • Develop and support continuous improvements for productivity improvement & cost reduction throughout the facility.
  • Develop and manage an annual department budget.
  • Monitor and adapt processes to maintain a high level of job satisfaction department wide.
  • Ensure spare parts inventory system is accurate and inventory is sufficient to minimize downtime while holding to Repair & Maintenance budget. Build and maintain supplier relationships to ensure department purchases high quality parts at competitive prices.
  • Evaluate and recommend capital expenditures as required to achieve goals.
  • Ensure all personnel are trained and skilled for the job requirements and cGMP standards. Develop a training matrix by machine/system and technology for each employee to ensure they are equipment experts and safety advocates throughout the facility.
  • Participate in project planning for new facilities and production systems. Responsible for all spare parts selection and planning, and mechanical/electrical training in order to support the operational transition.
  • Participate as an active member of the Sanitation Team.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, creativity and initiative to lead and maintain an effective and efficient team.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Conducts self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of SHP.


What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Management, Production Systems, or a related field; equivalent education and experience will also be considered.
  • 3–5 years of experience in maintenance or a related facilities, manufacturing, or production environment.
  • Ability to develop manpower plans and schedules and effectively prioritize competing work demands.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge of single-phase and three-phase power, HVAC systems, and water treatment.
  • Experience with computerized preventive-maintenance and spare-parts systems.
  • Computer proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, Microsoft Office products, and general office equipment.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organization, and people-leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a 24/7 operating environment and collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.


Strongly Preferred:

  • Experience leading maintenance teams in a manufacturing, production, food, supplement, pharmaceutical, or other regulated environment.
  • Experience with cGMP documentation, OSHA standards, preventive maintenance, spare-parts management, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Experience supporting new facility or production-system launches, capital projects, or operational transitions.
  • Familiarity with Mozart, JIRA, computerized maintenance management systems, or similar software.
