Founding Engineer
About the Role
This is a founding engineer position at an early-stage AI fintech company building intelligent automation for private market operations. You'll work directly alongside the founding team and customers to shape the core product — an AI-powered platform that automates fund accounting workflows like data capture, reconciliation, and journal entry generation. This is a maximum-ownership role with a clear path into leadership.
What You'll Do
Build and iterate on core product components, including AI agents that integrate with inboxes, web portals, and financial data sources.
Design and develop production-grade backend APIs and services that power end-to-end private market operations workflows.
Work directly with design partners and customers to gather requirements, define the product roadmap, and communicate trade-offs.
Contribute to recruiting and help shape the culture and team as an early hire.
Operate with high autonomy in a fast-paced, ambiguous founding environment.
What We're Looking For
1–3 years of professional software engineering experience.
Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs) and agentic/autonomous system development.
Strong backend development skills, including building and operating production-grade APIs and services.
Experience building or maintaining AI-native operations infrastructure (e.g. accounting, reporting, reconciliation, or treasury systems).
Domain knowledge in private markets fund accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and treasury processes.
Comfort working in a founding team environment with high ownership, proactive communication, and comfort with ambiguity.
Experience integrating and operating LLMs and agent-based systems in production.
Eligibility to work in Germany (visa sponsorship is available).
Based in or willing to relocate to Berlin, Germany.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: €70,000 – €110,000 per year. Visa sponsorship is available for eligible candidates.
