Fraud Analyst
You will help protect Wave mobile money customers, agents and the business from fraud risk while keeping services accessible and easy to use. You will assess fraud risks periodically, visit the field to understand local challenges, and collaborate with the growth team. You will investigate and escalate suspicious activity, monitor transactions, analyze fraud data, and liaise with the legal department and local authorities to close cases. You will also prepare fraud training materials, support stakeholder reporting, and follow up with agents on commission-related complaints.
Responsibilities
- Assess fraud risks on a periodic basis
- Visit the field to understand local challenges and collaborate with the growth team
- Determine vulnerabilities of customers, agents and staff as potential fraud targets
- Provide reliable data and dashboards, including partner and statutory reporting
- Assist in preparing fraud training materials based on risk exposure
- Assist in reporting and communication between stakeholders on fraud issues
- Investigate and escalate issues and take action upon detection of suspicious activity
- Monitor suspicious transactions and follow up on required actions
- Investigate fraud cases and liaise with the legal department and local authorities
- Perform data analysis on fraud to support decision-making
- Call and follow up with agents who raised complaints about commission cuts
- Proactively contact agents to warn them about upcoming commission cuts
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in IT, Audit and Management Control, Business Administration, Finance, Criminology, or other relevant fields
- At least 3 years of experience with financial sector case investigation, fraud risk controls, regulatory requirements and market practices
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Fluency in local languages is an advantage
- Work authorization in The Gambia is required
