Human Resources Generalist (Contract)
Position Summary
The HR Generalist supports the day-to-day human resources operations at DeWys Metal Solutions: onboarding new team members, maintaining accurate records and files, keeping our HRIS (Paylocity) up to date, and serving as a friendly, dependable first point of contact for team member questions. The role works alongside our existing HR generalists and the Director of Human Resources, taking recurring work off their plates and providing coverage during an upcoming team member leave.
This is a hands-on role for an HR professional who knows how the core generalist functions work, does not need to be an expert in all of them, and is happy to figure things out. It calls for someone kind, humble, detail oriented, and team first, who cares about people beyond a list of tasks. Depending on your background and expertise, the role can also grow to include other specific HR functions. If you are especially strong in a particular area of HR, we want to discover that during the hiring process and shape responsibilities around what you do best.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Onboarding: Coordinate and deliver onboarding for new team members, including new hire paperwork, orientation logistics, and first day readiness, so every new team member starts strong.
• Records & Filing: Maintain accurate, current, and confidential team member files and HR documentation.
• Paylocity Updates: Enter and maintain team member data and changes in Paylocity. Payroll processing itself is handled separately.
• Team Member Support: Serve as a first point of contact for team member questions about benefits, policies, and general HR topics, answering promptly and escalating to the HR team when needed.
• Multi-Site Support: Make monthly visits to our six locations (all within about a 20 minute radius) to support team members and managers on site.
• General HR Administration: Take on the recurring administrative work that keeps HR running, support the HR team’s projects, and provide dependable coverage during a team member leave later this year.
• Areas of Strength: Contribute in other HR functions that match your background and expertise. Responsibilities may be assigned to fit your areas of strength as we discover them.
