JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Inventory Control and Scheduling Analyst
DEPARTMENT: 2030 OPS - General Inventory Control
REPORTS TO: Inventory Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
The Scheduler/Data Analyst is responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring batch processing within the Thompkins automated sorting system while supporting operational performance through data analysis and research. This role ensures efficient sorter utilization, accurate batch execution, and timely resolution of inventory discrepancies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Scheduling & Operations
- Create and manage daily batch schedules for the Thompkins automated sorter, planning up to one month in advance based on volume, priority, and operational capacity
- Coordinate multiple batch types to ensure optimal flow and minimal downtime
- Adjust schedules in real time to accommodate changes in workload, staffing, or system performance
- Communicate schedules and changes clearly to operations, shipping, and leadership teams
- Monitor sorter throughput and escalate issues impacting performance or output
Data Analysis & Research
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies including missing items, returns, boxes, and batches
- Perform root cause analysis on sorter errors, delays, and inefficiencies
- Partner with operations and inventory control to improve data accuracy and process reliability
- Maintain data integrity across systems related to batch processing and inventory tracking
Reporting & Performance Tracking
- Track and report sorter performance metrics (daily, weekly, monthly, and annual)
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports on throughput, accuracy, and productivity
- Identify trends and provide actionable recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce errors
- Support leadership with data-driven insights for planning and process improvement
