IT Operations and Support Specialist

Datamars is looking for an experienced IT Operations and Support Specialist (L2-L3) to join our growing IT team. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically capable, customer-focused IT professional who enjoys working across infrastructure, systems administration, end-user support, cybersecurity, and project delivery.

You'll combine hands-on operational support with infrastructure management and continuous improvement initiatives, helping ensure our technology environment remains secure, reliable, scalable, and fit for purpose. Supporting users across New Zealand, Australia and the wider APAC region, you'll play a key role in maintaining the technology that enables our teams to succeed every day.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the IT Infrastructure and Security Manager APAC, you'll work closely with local and regional IT teams, business stakeholders, and external technology partners to deliver outstanding support and operational excellence.

This role offers significant variety, from resolving complex technical issues and administering core infrastructure, to supporting projects that improve security, performance, business continuity, and user experience. You'll be part of a collaborative and supportive team while gaining exposure to a diverse enterprise technology environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and support Datamars’ server, network, infrastructure, and end-user technology environments.

  • Administer core platforms including Active Directory, Azure AD, Microsoft 365, phone systems, MDM, and related services.

  • Provide responsive Level 1–3 support to users across New Zealand, Australia, and remote teams within the region.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across desktops, applications, networks, hardware, mobile devices, printers, Windows, Microsoft 365, and infrastructure services.

  • Support cybersecurity, backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, vulnerability management, and operational security activities.

  • Maintain clear technical documentation, procedures, and system configuration records.

  • Work with vendors, service providers, IT teams, and business stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver a great user experience.

  • Contribute to infrastructure upgrades, system implementations, technology rollouts, business systems support, and local, regional, and global IT initiatives.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes ownership, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same and is willing to pitch in to meet team goals.

To be a success in this role you will bring:

· IT degree, diploma or equivalent industry experience

· Experience in a broad IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure support role

· Strong troubleshooting/analytical skills across desktop, network, and server technologies

· Experience supporting Microsoft Windows environments and Microsoft 365

· Knowledge of Active Directory, Azure AD and hybrid Microsoft environments

· Understanding of networking, routing, switching, and firewall technologies

· Experience supporting mobile devices and endpoint management solutions

· Experience with backup and recovery platforms (Veeam experience advantageous)

· Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills

· Ability to prioritise competing demands and work effectively across support and project activities

· A proactive mindset with a desire to learn and continuously develop

· Experience supporting remote users and distributed teams

· Full New Zealand Driver Licence

Advantageous Experience

· Linux server administration

· macOS support

· Systems monitoring platforms

· Manufacturing, supply chain, or operational business environments

· Information security and infrastructure project experience
