Rārangi Utu ā-Mātauranga - Education Payroll is a Crown entity that delivers pay to schools and kura on behalf of the Ministry of Education. With around 200 employees, we deliver one of the largest and most complex payrolls in Australasia.

The combination of great people and cutting-edge technology enable us to pay around 102,000 teachers and support staff across around 2,500 schools accurately and on time every fortnight.

Our office is in central Wellington, close to the train station for an easy commute.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

The IT Support Analyst plays an important role in keeping Education Payroll’s technology services reliable, secure and running smoothly. This is a hands-on role where you’ll provide day-to-day desktop, application and systems support to our people, helping troubleshoot issues, coordinate fixes and keep technology services working well.

You’ll also support IT service operations across incidents, requests, changes, releases, access management and vendor activity. Working with internal teams and external providers, you’ll help maintain documentation, support security and data protection practices, and contribute to improvements across our IT processes and services.

If successful, you’ll be appointed between $70,000 and $76,000 per annum depending on experience and suitability for the role.

Because our work is highly collaborative and this role provides hands-on support to our people, this is an office-based role.

Key accountabilities:

  • Support day-to-day IT service operations, including service desk, access management and request fulfilment activity.

  • Provide desktop, application and systems support, including troubleshooting issues, coordinating resolution and escalating where needed.

  • Work with internal teams and external vendors to help resolve incidents, requests, changes and service issues.

  • Support ITIL-based practices including incident, request, change, release, configuration and problem management.

  • Help maintain IT documentation, procedures, reporting and knowledge base information.

  • Contribute to improvements across IT processes, tools and ways of working.

  • Support technology, access and security-related activities in line with EPL policies and procedures.

Kōrero mōu - About you

To be successful in this position you will need:

  • a strong understanding of the IT information library (ITIL)

  • demonstrated experience in IT operations, service management or technical support roles, including incident, request, change

  • experience writing process documentation

  • strong verbal and written communication ability

  • experience using ITIL service management tools (e.g. ServiceNow, Atlassian)

  • able to provide subject matter expertise on system administration and configuration

  • an understanding of Windows, Linux, networks, desktop, and server environments

  • proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • the ability to work autonomously

  • strong analytical thinking skills

  • experience in SharePoint is beneficial.
