Junior - Intermediate Data Engineer
Our client, a leading technology services company based in Bryanston, is looking for a strong Junior / Intermediate Data Engineer with Business Intelligence experience to join their team on a rolling contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting SQL Server reporting solutions while ensuring accurate, reliable, and efficient data delivery across the business.
The ideal candidate will have solid experience working with the Microsoft Data Stack, particularly MS SQL Server, T-SQL, and SSRS, with the ability to manage report development from design through deployment and ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases, queries, and reporting solutions.
- Design, build, and maintain SSRS reports from requirements through deployment.
- Create and optimize advanced T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and database views.
- Develop report datasets, parameters, subscriptions, and deployment configurations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve report performance and data-related issues.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of reporting data.
- Support business users with reporting requests and enhancements.
- Extract, transform, and prepare data for reporting and analysis.
- Collaborate with technical teams to deliver high-quality reporting solutions.
- Assist with the transition toward modern BI platforms, including Power BI.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
- 2–4 years' experience in Data Engineering, SQL Development, or Business Intelligence.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Practical experience developing reports using SSRS.
- Experience writing advanced T-SQL queries for reporting and data transformation.
