Junior Network & Security Engineer
Salary: $100,000 package including Superannuation
The opportunity
Marble Arch Consulting Group (MAC) is seeking a Junior Network & Security Engineer to join our Managed Services team in Alexandria, Sydney.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with early-career networking experience—or solid CCNA-level knowledge—who wants to develop practical skills across networking, cybersecurity, wireless and managed services.
You’ll monitor customer environments, investigate alerts, resolve incidents and service requests, and implement standard changes. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers who can support you when issues need escalation, while building the skills and confidence to take greater ownership over time.
You don’t need experience with every platform listed in this advert. We’re looking for sound networking fundamentals, practical problem-solving ability and a genuine interest in developing your career.
The position offers a remuneration package of $100,000, including superannuation.
What you’ll be doing
Monitor customer network and security environments and triage alerts
Provide an initial response to incidents and service requests
Troubleshoot issues and escalate to senior engineers or vendors when required
Take ownership of assigned tickets and provide clear, timely updates
Implement standard and pre-approved changes
Follow established incident, change and problem-management processes
Create and maintain knowledge articles, runbooks and operating procedures
Add and maintain customer devices within monitoring platforms
Provide accurate written handovers for open incidents and changes
Assist with solution implementations, testing and technical documentation
Provide post-implementation support for solutions moving into production
Build productive relationships with customers and colleagues
Contribute ideas to improve MAC’s managed services
What you’ll bring
You’ll have either:
One to three years’ hands-on experience supporting network or security infrastructure; or
Cisco CCNA-level knowledge or certification.
Practical experience can substitute for certification. A capable applicant will not be screened out simply because they do not hold a CCNA.
You’ll also bring:
Experience using a network monitoring platform
Experience working with a ticketing or IT service-management system
Basic knowledge of switching, routing and network troubleshooting
A systematic and measured approach to solving problems
Clear written and verbal communication skills
A willingness to learn and seek assistance when appropriate
The ability to remain composed and effective during operational incidents
Willingness and eligibility to work staggered rostered hours and participate in an on-call rotation
Experience with specific monitoring or ticketing products is not required. If you’ve monitored an environment, triaged alerts and managed tickets through to resolution, we can train you on our tools.

Exposure to any of the following would be an advantage:
Cisco or Aruba switching and routing
Cisco or Aruba wireless technologies
Fortinet, Palo Alto or Zscaler security platforms

Cisco CUCM or Webex Cloud
F5 or comparable load balancing
MPLS or SD-WAN
ITIL processes
