Junior Technical Business Analyst
Salary: $65,000 – $80,000 per year
Why Orchestral?
Orchestral is transforming how healthcare organisations connect and use their data. We’re tackling one of healthcare’s biggest challenges – bringing fragmented data together and making it accessible, meaningful and ready to use.
Our technology works across complex healthcare environments, connecting data from different systems and sources to create a trusted foundation for better healthcare.
For you, that means the opportunity to build your career in an advanced technical environment, working with real-world health data and people who are solving complex problems every day.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Junior Technical Business Analyst to join our Health Intelligence Platform (HIP) Development team.
Working alongside developers, testers and other Business Analysts in the HIP Development team, you’ll help investigate the health data coming into HIP, understand what it means and where it belongs, and help define how it should be processed, stored and served.
You’ll work with a wide variety of healthcare data – from HL7 and FHIR messages to clinical documents, batch files and genomic data – while building your knowledge of data processing, information modelling and software development.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Analyse the different types of health data HIP receives, processes, stores and serves, including HL7 and FHIR messages, clinical documents and batch files.
• Information modelling to ensure data has a ‘place to land’ within our central Health Data Model and support the model as it continues to evolve.
• Define mappings that show how elements from source data map into the relevant Domain Services.
• Specify the business logic engineers use to process source data, including potential exceptions, errors, warnings and metadata.
• Document how data is loaded, ingested and output through HIP.
• Inform and support engineers and testers as specifications are implemented, answering questions and helping troubleshoot along the way.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
We're looking for someone who is technically minded and naturally investigative – someone who keeps digging until they genuinely understand how and why things work.
You’ll also bring:
• An understanding of how data is processed, stored or accessed.
• Strong attention to detail and an ability to spot gaps or inconsistencies.
• The ability to turn detailed information into clear, actionable specifications and documentation.
• A collaborative approach and confidence working with different people across a development team
• An openness to exploring how AI could be leveraged in your work
• Basic data querying skills, such as SQL, and scripting experience, such as Python.
• A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or another relevant STEM discipline.
Previous experience with healthcare data isn’t essential – graduates are welcome.
Why You’ll Love It Here!
You’ll be joining a supportive technical team where you can learn, ask questions and build practical experience working with data and software development.
You’ll get exposure to complex healthcare data and develop your skills alongside experienced Business Analysts, developers and testers, while contributing to technology designed to make a real difference in healthcare.
You'll also discover that our benefits go far beyond the basics, supporting your financial security, daily comfort, and overall work-life balance.
• Hybrid working, with two days working from home each week.
• Fully funded Wellbeing One Plan with Southern Cross Health Insurance.
• Monthly office bash with food and drinks.
• Fresh fruit, soft drinks, snacks, cereals, and a well-stocked fridge.
