Landscape Architect

Description

You will direct research and experiments to identify land use problems, suitable plant varieties, techniques for nursery operations; best methods for planting, spraying, cultivating, harvesting, storing, processing, or transporting agricultural/horticultural products, as well as pest/weed management.

You will provide guidance on planning and developing community projects, develop programs which will achieve quality landscaping designs, effective implementation, and possible cost reduction.

You will provide guidance on programs for training staff personnel on the latest agricultural/horticultural technology or methodologies including plant insect/pest control.

Study soil characteristics and develop improved measurement techniques, soil conservation methods, soil sampling devices, or other technologies as necessary.

You will also have to design work programs for implementation by the gardening, landscaping, and nursery personnel. Review and advise staff in the performance of their duties, preparing periodic reports for supervisory review regarding work performance.

You will coordinate and implement integrated pest management programs to control horticultural and agricultural pests in all landscaped areas including residences. Advise and instruct on plant pest control. Conduct surveys, collect samples, and study plant pests and materials to improve control efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Landscaping, or equivalent from a recognized and approved program.
  • Eight years of experience in gardening, landscaping, agriculture, or equivalent, including at least five years in horticulture, gardening, plantations, or equivalent.
