Lead Backend Engineer - Checkout (all genders)
- Build complex, highly scalable technical solutions in close collaboration with the Tech Lead and Product Lead/Product Manager
- Define architectural decisions and ensure the delivery of reliable, state-of-the-art products
- Lead and mentor a world-class engineering team, collaborating with Product Managers, QAs, and Designers to ship new components and features
- Champion best practices in agentic engineering, efficiently leveraging modern AI tooling
- Work within a dynamic, international, and agile environment (SCRUM/Kanban) characterized by flat hierarchies and very short decision-making processes
- 10+ years of total experience, with at least 5–6 years as a Backend Developer
- Proven experience in leading or mentoring team members
- Extensive experience in modern backend web development, particularly with PHP 8+ in scalable, high-load environments
- Deep expertise in frameworks like Symfony and Laravel, adhering to best practices for building scalable applications
- Strong proficiency in MySQL and Redis
- Deep understanding of engineering principles and software architecture, including event-driven architecture
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure technologies such as Kubernetes, Helm, and AWS, as well as managing deployment pipelines (e.g., GitLab or similar tools)
- Fluent written and spoken English communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with Golang or exposure to Generative AI (GenAI) and related technologies is a plus
