Lead/Senior Business Analyst - Insurance with Scrum Master

Lead/Senior Business Analyst in insurance (Policy, Billing, Claims, Underwriting, CRM/Distribution) combining requirements elicitation, Agile/Scrum Master duties, backlog ownership, and UAT support, working with Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps.
We are seeking a Lead/Senior Business Analyst – Insurance with Scrum Master expertise to bridge business and technical teams across the insurance value chain, driving requirements analysis, Agile delivery, and stakeholder collaboration to achieve measurable business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand objectives, pain points, and regulatory/process constraints in the insurance value chain (e.g., Policy, Billing, Claims, Underwriting, CRM/Distribution)
- Elicit, analyze, and document requirements using workshops, interviews, story mapping, process mapping, and data analysis
- Translate requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows (AS-IS / TO-BE), functional specs, and wireframes as needed
- Maintain and refine the product backlog in collaboration with Product Owner/business leads to ensure clarity, completeness, and testability
- Support UAT through preparation of test scenarios, coordination of business users, defect management, and traceability from requirements to outcomes
- Define and track business KPIs (e.g., cycle time reduction, claim leakage controls, STP rates, NPS improvements)
- Drive Agile ceremonies: Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives
- Plan and manage delivery scope, schedule, dependencies, risks, RAID logs, and release milestones
- Coordinate work across teams (engineering, QA, data, architecture, operations, vendors) to ensure consistent delivery and communication
- Communicate status clearly to leadership and stakeholders via dashboards, weekly updates, and executive-ready summaries
- Act as a bridge between business and technical teams to ensure shared understanding of requirements and constraints
- Collaborate with architects and SMEs on integration needs (e.g., PAS, claims systems, billing, document management, external data providers)
Requirements
- 6-15 years of overall experience in IT
- 8+ years of experience in a combined Business Analyst / Agile PM / Scrum Master / Delivery Lead capacity
- Background in the insurance domain across one or more areas: Claims, Underwriting, Policy Administration, Billing, Reinsurance, Distribution
- Skills in writing epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria, with the capability to lead other BAs to drive this cycle effectively
- Practical experience delivering projects in Agile, Scrum, and Kanban environments
- Understanding of SDLC, testing lifecycle, and release management
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps
