Repton Al Barsha currently educates students from Nursery (FS1) to Year 11 and will be growing year on year through to Year 13.

We are a well-resourced Apple Distinguished School with exceptional sporting facilities, seeking to achieve the best from every pupil both academically and in extra-curricular activities which is a key aspect of the school program.

Role purpose:

To assist and support pupils with additional learning needs.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide additional support for all identified pupils across different areas of the curriculum.
  • During in-class support, ensure that all pupils can integrate as fully as possible in activities in the classroom.
  • Contribute to all identified pupils' overall progress across different areas of the curriculum.
  • Implement IEP and learner profile targets for students and deliver interventions as directed by the inclusion teacher.
  • Monitor, record and report progress of IEP targets and interventions on ‘planning sheets’.

Supporting pupils

  • Make and adapt resources and learning materials to suit the needs of all students.
  • Manage student behaviour in line with school behaviour policy or pupils' bespoke behaviour policy.
  • Provide learning support for pupils within the classroom and in withdrawal situations, either one-to-one or small groups.
  • Develop knowledge of the particular needs of identified children and seek advice from the inclusion lead, inclusion teacher and class teacher.
  • Aid access to the full range of learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom and provide modified materials as required.
  • Provide positive praise and reinforcements.

Supporting the class teacher, inclusion teacher and SENCO

  • Communicate effectively with classroom teachers to understand student needs and curriculum objectives.
  • Participate in team meetings, curriculum department meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Attend weekly meetings with your line manager.
  • Attend ILSA/LSA clinic when required led by inclusion leads.
  • Work as part of the team to ensure that the well-being and personal development of all pupils enhances their learning opportunities and life skills.
  • Contribute to the pupils' termly review meetings.

Supporting the school

  • Understand and apply the school policies on learning and behaviour, and the statutory guidelines relating to disability discrimination and special educational needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to all pupils' needs but have regard to the safeguarding procedures of the school.
  • Carry out additional duties as directed by the inclusion lead.
