Roles & responsibilities
Functions as the Aviation Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP). Responsible for performing Maintenance Test Flights (MTF), Maintenance Operational Checks (MOC), and conducting in-flight troubleshooting and verifications of aircraft to ensure airworthiness upon completion of extensive disassembly for maintenance, repair, replacement, or modification of components or aircraft systems.
Flights typically associated with this position include determining the availability of required aircraft power, assessing power plant health and performance, and verifying the functioning of aircraft components and systems in accordance with applicable aircraft technical publications and predetermined requirements.
The MTP shall perform general or limited test flights of aircraft when ground diagnostic tests cannot determine the safe and/or proper functioning of aircraft components or systems. The MTP shall conduct aircraft general and pre-flight readiness inspections. The MTP shall successfully start, run-up, fly, navigate, and safely land aircraft in accordance with applicable aircraft operator's manual.
The MTP shall correctly complete all required aircraft maintenance forms, records, and aircraft logbook entries. The MTP shall perform mathematical calculations, performance data, and landing configurations of the type series. The MTP shall conduct briefings to flight crew members and maintenance personnel in support of the various MTP aircraft operations as stated above.
Ensures that maintenance test flight functional activities and procedures are planned, coordinated, integrated, and synchronized to achieve established platform operational readiness rates in accordance with contractual requirements. Responsible for the establishment of maintenance flight processes, procedures, and reports that provide immediate situational awareness of platform readiness rates.
Establishes daily maintenance test flight organizational goals with production control, objectives, and priorities for implementation in order to achieve stated readiness rates. Works within the maintenance quality control processes, procedures, standards, measures, and reports in accordance with the quality control inspection program for all maintenance and in coordination with Supply Chain Management (SCM) activities.
Directs inquiries, investigations, and research analysis related to aviation maintenance test flights and supporting maintenance activities to the Aviation Maintenance Technician, Production Control manager. Attends a daily maintenance meeting for coordination and synchronization of maintenance activities requiring MTP support.
Coordinates activities and requirements for maintenance test flight operations support with the Base Operations Manager. Ensures all maintenance test flight operations and related maintenance support activities are conducted in a safe manner. In coordination with the Aviation Manager, supports the Downed Aircraft Recovery Team (DART) processes and procedures. Other tasks as directed by the Production Control Manager.
Desired candidate profile
As a condition of employment in Saudi Arabia, all candidates must successfully complete the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development's Qualification Verification Program (QVP) to ensure eligibility for visa processing and employment authorization.
Associate's degree required, bachelor's degree preferred.
Maintenance Examiner experience preferred.
FAA A&P certificate preferred.
FAA IA certificate preferred.
Two (2) years experience as a Maintenance Test Pilot in AH-64, OH-58D, or Mission Enhanced Little Bird (MELB) series helicopters.
Meets requirements of AR 95-20.
Commercial Pilot Rotorcraft Helicopter; Instrument Helicopter license.
Maintenance Test Pilot qualified in the AH-6i, AH-64, OH-58D, or MELB series helicopters.
Successfully pass the Army or FAA Class II Flight Physical upon hire, and annually thereafter.
Proficient in the use of computer-hosted interactive technical manuals, aircraft maintenance forms, and other aircraft-related documentation.
Proficient in MS Office software.
Professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to effectively communicate with the customer in a professional and courteous manner.
Possess a valid driver's license.
Successfully pass an overseas deployment physical upon hire.
