Manager, Credit Control
Job summary / introduction
The role is responsible for managing credit limits relating to credit facilities and guiding the team members in the day-to-day transactions with respect to limit encoding and control. Further, he/she is responsible for ensuring that the team complies with the approved terms and adheres to policies, processes, and procedures of FAB head office, representative offices, international branches, and regulators.
Key responsibilities
- Authorize, process, and encode credit limits and ensure accurate detailing into the bank's systems along with maintenance of bank and country limits as per credit approvals.
- Maintain accuracy with regards to application of interest rates, commissions, fees, and charges.
- Authorize, process, and encode maintenance of CCIB obligor details based on requests received from UAE and international branches in line with the local regulations of the respective jurisdictions.
- Authorize, process, and prepare day-to-day transactions such as loan memos, processing tickets, PPC discounting/settlements, SVC, etc.
- Authorize, process, and encode monthly activities such as annual review of credit limits in GLCMS.
- Authorize and process memos for provisioning of accounts, customer grade changes, suspension of interest, and passing relevant write-off entries.
- Authorize and prepare liability/no liability certificates and letters.
- Ensure 100% satisfaction rating by internal customers by providing superior service quality, managing internal customer relationships, and ensuring that queries and exceptions are addressed efficiently with proactive measures.
- Ensure timely response to service and support requests, queries, escalations, and deficiency reports.
- Stay abreast of latest developing concepts, new regulations by the UAE Central Bank, other legal entities, and corporate credit guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to published standard operating procedures (SOP), service level agreements (SLAs), and understanding of relevant products, procedures, and delegation of authority (DOA) of the bank.
- Support team leaders in distributing work among team members and ensure smooth flow of day-to-day transactions.
- Assist team leaders in monitoring work submission channels (emails and other workflow management systems in use) for daily task allocation within the unit, to ensure task completions and update internal stakeholders accordingly.
- Authorize and prepare instruction memos to loan operations for disbursement, changes in repayment, settlements, maintenance, and collection of various fees.
- Authorize and prepare instruction memos to client service team for release of excess margin held against facilities as per approved terms.
- Authorize and prepare instruction memos for amendment of interest rates of overdraft pricing linked to fixed deposits, deferring loan instalments, extending loan maturity date, etc.
- Authorize, process, and encode bank and country limits as per approval.
- Authorize and process upload of interest rate codes in bank systems.
- Prepare various reports as and when requested by head office CCU, sanction, head office CAD, and senior management.
- Undertake special projects and assignments as and when requested by line manager, head office CCU and sanction, head office CAD, and senior management.
- Report key risk indicators (KRIs) and operational loss incidents in a timely manner.
- Proactively engage with key stakeholders and ensure operational continuity without any process breach.
- Recognize and highlight process enhancement opportunities.
- Provide guidance and on-the-job training for staff, conduct knowledge sharing sessions, and monitor performance of the team.
- Ascertain adequate training of team members.
- Create effective leave management plans and adequate backups for self and team members.
- Timely archiving of transactional documents as per unit's process.
- Maximize available manpower to meet business deliverables.
- Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Demonstrate compliance to organization's values and ethics at all times to support the establishment of a value-driven culture within the bank.
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes, and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement, and cost reduction.
- Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate statements and reports to meet department requirements, policies, and quality standards.
- Target zero loss, nil near miss or income leakage events, and zero high-risk errors.
- Target zero complaints and minimum 95% adherence to turnaround time (TAT) standards as agreed with business.
- Achieve more than 90% satisfaction score in the internal customer survey.
- Nil unauthorized breaches in policy, regulatory requirements, and SOPs.
- Satisfactory rating in all audits including INA, RMU, and ORC.
- Nil breaches in housekeeping such as reconciliations, tracers, activity tracker, etc.
- Nil critical findings in regulatory, external, and internal audits.
- Number of process improvement proposals found beneficial by management.
- Number of successful process improvements implemented.
- Work with the line manager in introducing strong tools and processes to identify and ease business-as-usual risks attached to the unit.
- Pursue opportunities for enhancing operative efficiencies along with adequate monitoring.
- Ensure excellent housekeeping standards at all times.
- Function within the framework and boundaries of group policies as well as overall organizational and governance frameworks.
- Authorized to take decisions as per the approved authorization matrix.
Requirements / qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or related discipline.
- Relevant experience in the banking sector with at least five years in similar positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities in the credit facility function.
