Manager, Energy and Utilities

West Monroe is seeking a Manager, Energy & Utilities to help utilities and energy companies navigate transformation across their businesses, operations, technology, and customer experiences. This role combines industry expertise with consulting leadership to manage complex engagements, build trusted client relationships, and deliver measurable outcomes. As a Manager, you will lead teams and engagements while contributing to business development and the continued growth of our Energy & Utilities practice.
What You Will Do
Client Delivery
- Lead complex consulting engagements for electric, gas, water, and broader energy clients, translating business challenges into actionable strategies and solutions.
- Manage engagement scope, budget, staffing, multiple workstreams, deliverables, profitability, risks, and client communications while maintaining high standards for quality.
- Apply Energy & Utilities industry knowledge to challenges such as grid modernization, operational transformation, customer experience, asset management, regulatory priorities, and technology modernization.
- Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders, facilitate executive discussions, and connect recommendations to measurable business outcomes.
- Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, providing clear direction, feedback, and coaching throughout engagements.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, synthesize complex information, and support data-driven recommendations for clients, exercising sound judgment in evaluating outputs.
- Apply AI technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation tools, data models) to enhance insights, improve delivery efficiency, and elevate the quality of client outcomes.
Business Development
- Identify opportunities within existing client relationships and participate in pursuits for new clients, change orders, and engagement extensions.
- Lead or contribute to proposals, solution development, scoping, and client presentations.
- Build relationships across the Energy & Utilities market and help strengthen West Monroe’s visibility and reputation.
Practice Development
- Develop reusable approaches, methodologies, tools, and intellectual capital that strengthen Energy & Utilities capabilities.
- Share industry and functional expertise with colleagues and help build skills across the practice.
- Coach and mentor team members and contribute to recruiting, retention, and an inclusive internal culture.
What You Will Bring
- 7+ years of relevant consulting, Energy & Utilities, or professional services experience, including experience leading teams and complex workstreams or engagements.
- Strong knowledge of the Energy & Utilities industry and the business, operational, regulatory, or technology challenges facing utilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project scope, financials, risks, resources, and executive stakeholder relationships.
- Experience contributing to business development, proposals, and expansion of existing client relationships.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day-to-day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high-quality outputs.
- Ability to travel 50%-75% annually.

Based on pay transparency guidelines, the salary range for this role can vary based on your proximity to one of our West Monroe offices (see table below). Information on our competitive total rewards package, including our bonus structure and benefits is here. Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.
Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, purchase shares from our employee stock ownership program and be eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees will also receive unlimited flexible time off and ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Eligibility for ten weeks of paid parental leave will also be available upon hire date.
