Being The Manager – Project Management Office at Aspeq:
The Manager - Project Management Office is responsible for leading and continually improving Aspeq's Project Management Office (PMO). This includes establishing and maintaining project governance, standards, reporting, controls, and delivery assurance processes to support the consistent delivery of projects and programmes across the business.
The role oversees Aspeq's project portfolio, ensuring projects are prioritised, coordinated, and reported in line with organisational strategy, available resources, and client commitments.
Working closely with the Manager - Programme Delivery, the Manager - Project Management Office helps ensure strategic programmes are delivered through strong governance, consistent project management practices, effective reporting, and delivery assurance.
Key responsibilities
Maintain oversight of Aspeq's project portfolio, including priorities, dependencies, resource capacity, risks, and delivery status.
Support leaders and governance groups to assess, prioritise, and make decisions on new and existing projects.
Own and continuously improve Aspeq's PMO framework, Project Management Manual, templates, tools, standards, and delivery methodologies.
Establish practical and scalable project management approaches that can be applied across a range of projects.
Ensure effective project controls are in place, covering scope, budget, timelines, resources, risks, issues, changes, and benefits.
Provide accurate and timely portfolio and project reporting to the Project Control Group, senior leaders, sponsors, and key stakeholders.
Coordinate project delivery activities to support business readiness, client readiness, and successful implementation outcomes.
Lead complex or strategically important projects and continuous improvement initiatives from initiation through to completion.
Provide guidance, coaching, and practical support to build consistent project management practices across the organisation.
Monitor portfolio performance and identify emerging risks, constraints, issues, and opportunities requiring leadership attention.
To succeed in this role, you will have
A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
At least seven years' experience in project, programme, or portfolio management.
Experience establishing, leading, or improving a PMO or similar governance function.
Strong knowledge of portfolio governance, project controls, reporting, delivery assurance, and performance monitoring.
Experience managing complex projects and multiple competing priorities.
Experience developing and embedding project management frameworks, methodologies, tools, digital solutions, and continuous improvement practices.
Sound understanding of strategic planning, resource management, budgeting, risk management, and performance measurement.
The ability to build strong relationships and influence outcomes across all levels of the organisation.
Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
A practical and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to balance strategy and delivery.
