About the Role
As a Strategic Finance Manager on the Float Finance team, you'll report directly to the Head of Finance and own the analytical engine behind our financial planning, reporting, and decision-making.
This is a high-exposure role, you'll partner closely with the exec team and have direct visibility into the business decisions that shape Float's trajectory. It's an opportunity to build something meaningful at one of Canada's fastest growing companies, at a stage where the work you do genuinely moves the needle.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Business Partnering: Build working relationships with GTM, Product, and People teams. Understand the key drivers of their work and translate financial data into recommendations they can act on
Financial Reporting and Analysis: Own the production of accurate, timely financial results. Build variance analyses and surface insights on business performance, identifying where we're on track and where we need to course correct
Forecasting and Modelling: Maintain and continuously improve Float's core financial models, rolling forecasts, and quarterly budget setting
Strategic Finance Analysis: Support capital allocation decisions, unit economics tracking (CAC, LTV, payback periods, gross margin), and investment case analysis. Help translate financial data into clear recommendations on where Float should and shouldn't be placing its bets
Ad Hoc Executive Analysis: Respond to analytical requests from the CEO and exec team with speed and quality. This could be anything from unit economics deep-dives to investment case analysis to quick turnaround data pulls
You’ll Be Great in This Role If...
You have 3-5 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, or strategic finance at a high-growth tech or fintech company.
Ideally with a bachelor’s degree (though that’s not required) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. CPA, MBA or advanced degree preferred.
You're a strong cross-functional partner. You're comfortable working alongside GTM, Product, and other business teams to support decision-making, structure ambiguous problems, and help ship initiatives from zero to one.
Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills, with a deep understanding of financial statements, key metrics, and forecasting techniques specific to the technology industry.
You have a strong grasp of SaaS and fintech metrics: CAC, LTV, payback periods, gross margin, and sales efficiency.
You can synthesize complex analysis into clear, concise takeaways for non-finance stakeholders
You're a self-starter who takes ownership and drives work to completion with minimal hand-holding
You love start-ups. You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment and can adapt quickly to changing priorities and business needs.
You’re an “Owner”. You’re driven, self-motivated, proactive, and take full ownership of projects and drive them to successful completion
You’re market savvy. You have a passion for technology and the startup ecosystem, with a deep understanding of industry trends and market dynamics
